As other answerers have pointed out anyone can beat anyone and in a street fight anything goes ,but never under estimate Boxing as its techniques are equal to any style out there in stand up  I've used Boxing mixed with Jiu-jitsu and both have saved my life on at least 2 very frightening situations I've faced .

As always its down to the guy .boxer gets a good one in[k.o] thats the end of the fight. The basic point here is ,street fight ,if the boxer adapts quickly then its all over.Street fights have no rules therefore anyone can take a cheap shot to the groin or eyes,i would to save my life

Anyone can beat anyone, given that you can impose your style on your opponent. But you would need to stay on your feet if you are a stand up fighter. And it depends on the mma fighters technical background, also. That is why the mma is so interesting, you can adapt your fighting style to fit your opponent, or not (ask Sean Sherk about that! Why did he choose to trade blows with a fit and fast-handed BJ Penn?)

People believe this because everyone is familiar with boxing and mma is still very new (only around since 1993 and then it was style versus style). Art Jimmerson ( a former pro boxer) tried to compete in early mma and got his *** beat very quickly. 2:11 to be exact.

Not trying to take anything away from boxers. Boxer have really good hand strikes and timing, they would most likely to win with a stand up punch trading match. Unless they have been training and preparing on how to deal with mma fighters who will take out their legs, grapple with them, dirty boxing with them, and bjj with them, boxers will have a lot of trouble adapting to these new situations. the best of the boxers will have a small chance of winning against the best of the mma fighters. boxers need to learn skills of chuck liddle to be able to impose their boxing game to win.

I hate to tell you it happens if it doesnt go to the ground  the boxer is just as effective cung le has c**p for a ground game good takedown defense but c**p for ground chuck liddel for one is a boxer brawler whom has rounded out quite a bit but again when it hits the ground it is a different story
