  1. *DRINK*

  2. If there was a "colony, underground" safe enough, Yep, you bet, to become some of the 1st people to colonize another planet, yep, I'll take a ticket, that is if it doesn't cost too much!  I fear that it will be a much longer time than just my lifetime (approximately 100 years, or so, before one could even go there, and I'm already 60!  So---), and the cost will be astronomical (pun intended)!  So, I guess, I'll have to stay here!  But for my offspring, things look a little better, as far as colonizing another planet is concerned, except for the cost, for I fear that the cost will not go down!  The cost will be very, very high, for if there were a John Glenn cast in solid gold, then that would be the cost!

The reason I say "underground" is that Mars now gets the full force of rays from the sun, for there is no magnetic field to protect the people, much less the planet.  These rays are bad for ones DNA, that is to say, bad if a person with DNA is above ground when the rays hit.  If, however, one is underground, the rays that hit can't get to you and you and any  DNA that you might transfer in the future, will be safe, at least from those particular rays.  Some method of protection would necessarily need to be in place, which would cost a lot indeed, huh?

Then there's the water, a human person doesn't seem to be able to exist without water.  But I understand that a robotic probe sent to Mars from the Earth has now "found" water---but getting to it will cost a lot.  For what's there now is just a robotic probe, and it's not alive!

And then there's gravity.  Space doesn't seem to have it, and getting to Mars could possibly take up to 2 years.  Therefore, a source of artificial gravity would necessarily need to be put into place, just in order to get to Mars in a healthy fashion.

Okay, so I guess, your normal ordinary person doesn't have a chance in h--- to go to Mars, that is to say, if there is nothing to go underground to, if cost remain so high, and if there is no source of gravity, in order to get there healthy,

  3. There's definitely some microbial life deep in the martian soil!

And if I had the choice I would definitely chose to live on Mars!

  4. To clarify...Scientists believe that there may have previously been life on Mars, and they're looking for the signs that would provide evidence to back their theory.

The reason for trying to make Mars habitable is that there is a concern that fairly soon, Earth won't be.  Naturally, I'd prefer to stay here, but if that's not possible, I'd be glad to have an alternative!

  5. I actually think there was - a long time ago.

Who knows, maybe they messed their planet up too - and thought of coming to earth instead?

  6. People believe all sorts of silly things.  Technologically it would probably be possible to build a habitat there, but what would be the point?  While the place isn't as bad as the moon, it is still deadly.  Any habitation would likely be built underground.  The cost of transporting materials there would defy belief, so quarters would be small.  A cell in a maximum security prison would seem luxurious by contrast. I have served on a nuclear submarine for 4.5 years.  Two month deployments were VERY OLD by the last couple of days.  Living in similar circumstances for years would drive most people into insanity.  And a submarine is never more than a couple of days from port in case of emergency.  If a vital pump on a Mars habitat breaks down and no spares are in your inventory, you DIE.  Probably slowly.  A sub can do an emergency surface by blowing the ballast tanks, bob to the surface, and radio for help.  On mars, radioing for help might get you help in 6 months if the planets were aligned correctly.  Again you Die, awaiting parts.  Why do people keep asking this question.  There is nothing on Mars to justify colonization.  The surface could be littered with diamonds and gold, and it would make no economic sense to go and pick them up.

  7. I whould stay on Earth! who knows what might happen there!

And no there is no evidence thatt here is life there or if there was life there.

But it is 90/100% that these is currently life there.

    Unkown never before seen insects
