Koala bears

I have heard some animals cannot be eaten because of the poisonous foods they eat (which make them poisonous as well)

and since Koala bears eat poisonous eucalyptus leaves, does that make Koalas poisonous to eat?

I don't want to eat one, I just never heard of humans ever eating a koala so I am only couious if this applies to Koalas too.

  1. i think its safe the poisons are normally destroyed in their systems, but they must taste quite bad because i cant think of any other animals that eat them????

  2. I like koala kabob's there the best.  make sure to sprinkle some lemon juice on them for some extra zip.

  3. That would be news to all the generations of Australian Aboriginals that have been eating koala.

  4. Yes you can eat them, they eat them in Australia ... I would never eat one they are too cute and slow its unfair.. apparently it tastes like chicken though... but to answer your question Yes .... poor things.

  5. Yes, you can eat a koala bear.  Australians often have fun convincing tourists that the koala bear is the most poisonous reptile in Australia, when it is in fact neither poisonous nor a reptile.

Eating a koala is like eating boiled eucalyptus leaves - the digestion process removes the capability it has to boil you.  Any poisons left wouldn't be enough to have any effect on you - you'd have to eat a lot of koalas to get the effects.

    Koala meat is awful anyway.
