  1. My gf planted ivy in our backyard, against a vertical trestle (?), and it grew like crazy. You should be able to get it to 6' high in no time at all. As it grows, weave it in and out of your chain link fence, for support. It grows in pretty thick, and for someone to peer through it, they risk getting stung by flying critters.

  2. There are plastic slats [looking rather like venetian blind slats] which are designed to slide into the openings in chain link fences, made just for your situation. They slide in diagonally, come in many colors and lengths, and are available at any chain link fence dealer. Its a rather easy do it yourself solution, and the cheapest way to go!

  3. I'd just get some fabric, bamboo blinds, or anything you like that's light, and tie it onto the fence. You can do that without damaging the fence so I don't know why anyone would have a problem with it. If it isn't your fence, someone may object if they notice, but you could always find out whose fence it is first and ask them what they will allow you to do to get some privacy.

  4. Hey, best advice is look in the neighborhood and see how the neighbors did it! If that's your pic, I'm taking it you don't want to spend buck for a privacy fence, you might spring for a few bucks and get privacy fence pannels and place the in  where you really need the and lanscape accordingly, Want cheaper? Build a simple 2x4 fence with a high top rail, then you will have boxes between the bottom and top boards and the studs, the posts, go to a material wharehouse and ask for an outdoor material, like canvas, put some eyes in the material on all sides. Get some parachute cord from the Army Surplus store and lace the material to the frame. If your fram will work in a 4 foot by 8 foot frame, use lattice pannels from the lumber yard. Don't forget plants, elephant grass gets pretty high andgrows quickly. Try trees in planters. Better know where the property line is, ask the neighbors what they think of your idea and check with building regulations if it's a fence, usually over 4 feet high. They do have patio units with screens, but they cost, but then it's furniture! More information would help in answers, like how high must it be, how wide, do you want something that is portable....is the trail up hill from you or down hill, the grade makes a difference on the heigth. And by the way, the canvas wall could be held up on a temporary basis with concrete blocks with posts inserted in them with gravel, makes a difference for a permit! Call it yard art! lol, Good luck! 5. Bamboo plants grow incredibly fast.  Your local garden centre has them, and so does ebay.

  6. good fences make good neighbor's

  7. Your best bet will be a privacy fence. It may be your only choice. Its kind of expensive but worth your privacy.

  8. You can get flexible plastic (non see through) that you can cut into strips and weave into the chain link. This is probably cheaper than putting in a new fence.
