People complaining about coal fired power stations

My answer is;

No problem with Coal fired Power Stations. Just be Environmentally friendly with them with Proper Filtration of the Exhaust please. And better conditions for the workers in the Mines to please. They are the ones providing the fuel for the Power.

I agree.  The UK can stop mining coal for power stations when countries like china do the same.  Let the protesters go to these other countries and stop them first.

They would be happier paying about 5 grand a year for gas and living in the dark freezing their nuts off

these protesters are a mix of left wing extremists that just want to disrupt our society, medieval environmentalists who romanticise the primitive peasant way of life before powered machinery and the usual rent a mob types who just enjoy kicking off. None of them have any real interest or understanding of the environment. I am an Ecologist working in nature conservation and like Patrick Moore I have left Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth because they have been high jacked by political extremists

I am old enough to remember when we had to rely solely on coal and the miners held us to ransome for wage increases could not work monday because of hangovers and then along came king arthur who helped to do more damage to the miners than hitler did to the jews  and the d***heads thought he was their friend

These groups and their agendas have done more to hurt mankinds ability to survive and prosper than any force in recent history. Their successes always means lost jobs, higher taxes and a higher cost of living for Americans. Even Dr. Patrick Moore, founder of Greenpeace left that organization for that very reason.

Well, if they don't like it they could protest by refusing to accept power generated at coal fired plants.  Just call the power company to come out and pull the meter.

As for coal being safer than Nuclear, not so fast.  I think the researcher should check the records on the Nuclear plants in Arkansas near Russellville and compare them to the records of the coal fired plant in Gentry.  Last time I checked the background radiation level records the radiation levels at around the coal fired plant had, after only a few years of operation, already exceeded the levels around the nuclear plants.

Seems that trace amounts of radioactive materials in the coal are concentrated by burning millions and millions of tons of coal in one location.  Just something to think about.
