Question:

People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants?

I want to make a parody of PETA's "holocaust on your plate" campaign by superposing images of the holocaust with images of plants in whatever situation that involves humans (agriculture for example). Does anyone have any idea where I can find good pictures of plants in something that resembles cages or something that looks cruel? I'll use carmina burana as background music, just like PETA.

I believe that if were gonna give animals the same rights as humans just because their living beings then h**l lets do the same with plants and eat rocks!

Who's with me.

  1. Dont forget machosistic pruning....espaliered trees looking like jesus on the cross, green meatballs and upside icecream cones for landscaping.  Plants of all kinds held back by plastic landscape edging..........wow...good idea!

  2. Oh...I gotcha an idea!!!!

Doesn't broccoli have an IQ of 6 or something like that? You could always show a broccoli stir fry and bemoan the loss of "intelligent plant life" from eating at Chinese buffets....

You can also show plants that are grown in shade covers, cold frames, and greenhouses.

Just think...if you eat sixteen broccoli plants, you've consumed the equivalent of the average PETA member's brainpower! Oh...wait...make that ten broccoli plants, hehehe...

  3. Not a bad idea Cava. I doubt that it would get through the thick skulls of those PETA nuts though. They are not open to argument or common sense. It is their way or you are wrong. But seeing your plan in action would be a lot of fun for some that don't have blinders on. Show people chowing down an ear of corn, slicing into watermelons (a big watermelon in a "pit and pendulum" scene). Pictures of action in a Benny Hana restaurant would be like a torture chamber. Things like a vegematic would make great items of torture, or think of the horrors of a cheese greater on a poor carrot. Anyway, have fun with it. I'll be watching for you on youtube.

  4. Great idea!  I'm with you!  Tomato "cages" are very common to gardeners...not making fun of the poor Vietman POW's in any way whatsoever, but I can just see Jane Fonda consorting with seedsmen like Earl May, Robert Shumway, Starks Bros. and so on while ignoring the poor, gaunt  tomatoes staring out of their cages.

And I can see a vegetarian's mideval dungeon.  Poor, skinny string beans strung up on their poles, garlic in a press, oranges being "juiced" to extract a vitamin C laden confession, sweet corn being shucked alive, potatoes being flayed alive and then fried in hot oil (turning them into chips), I think you get the idea.  Now run with it, I'd like to see your results!

  5. hope there are no Jews in your class.....

People for the Eating of Tasty Animals

  6. How about hydroponics where plants are forced to eat a nutrient solution and never get outside to free range with their leafy colleagues, never get to feel rain on their leaves?

And than there is the cruel cutting of roots.

How about those that eat living plants and those that toss living plants into boiling water.

So what if we cannot hear them scream?

need to find a better acronym that PETP-pet pee?

  7. You have to know how deeply painful to holocaust survivors the Peta ads are, the intense anguish it causes them.

Now you propose to bring that upon yourself for a lark?

    Brother, grow a heart.
