Do the people in Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and England all get along with each other? My uncle is Scottish. He will say he is Scottish or British but not English. He will get very angry.

  1. Your grandfather is a Scot. You call him English? Well then you are probally what they call " Retarded " Any person who calls Scotland, Wales, Ireland or Northen Ireland Britain should be shot down and drowned in their own filthy blood! :D!! Irish, Scots and Welsh get along just fine most of the time. Glad to help. :) ****

  2. I'm Scottish & don't even refer to myself as British.  To me this is an offensive term, but then, I am one of those that believes 1707 should never have happened.

  3. The English have Anglo Saxon ancestors. The Irish, Scottish and Welsh have Celtic ancestors. England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are all seperate countries. The United Kingdom includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Southern Ireland is not a part of the UK as it is a republic.

A small amount of research into the history of the Celts and the Anglosaxons might give insight into  your Uncle's reaction towards being called English. Or you could rent out 'braveheart' and watch it if research sounds too heavy!

The UK and the Republic or Ireland are members of the European Union, however the UK have not introduced the Euro currency and still use the pound sterling. The republic of Ireland's currency is the Euro.

It's all very confusing, but I hope this sheds some light on the situation for you.

  4. Yes he has two identities he is british but not english. in the same way a texan is american but not a new yorker.

  5. The Scottish, Irish and Welsh all have Celtic ancestry and hold a grudge against the Anglo-Saxons in England.
