so my 18's club team had a really really horrib;e practice this week. I even cried when I got home. Everyone had bad attitudes or just flat out siad I dont want to be here. practice was only 1 1/2 hrs long and we havent played in 3 weeks due to band trips and prom. the 16's coach ran the practice and it was fine she is a good coach. anyways the team just didnt want to do anything and okayed really bad. I even told the team that we play the team that beat us to go to state and they all say oh we will do better then. but you practice how you play! how can I make the team realize that they need to put effort into playing good?!?

  1. RUN! running whips people into shape fast. Threaten with suicides, your team whill shape up! good luck with state!!

  2. yeah like you said most people dont care for their team....just to have fun in practices, talk wiht their friends and waste their time by being in the training.....

what you can do is to encourage them all the time....

this is what I'm doing because I'm new in the team and I recognised that they need me...

    good luck!

  3. I had the same problem with my team at the beginning of the club season... we still kinda have an issue with the talking too.

You should motivate your team and ask your coach to make your practice more fun (e.g. play queen of the court or scrimmage instead of running hardcore drills that everyone hates.)

Scrimmaging and queen of the court are fun, and they allow you to practice all of your skills... and the natural competitiveness in your teammates will make them play harder to win. I'm not saying drop drills all together, because they're what can really help improve your technique, but try to make them more fun...

I hope this helps you with your problem =3
