Question:

People leading reforms?

I'm looking for examples of people who have lead reforms in government, educational system, or any other insitute, can anyone suggest some examples? Thanks :)

  1. I love the Jane Addams story.  She started the first settlement house in the US, and started the move toward humane consideration for those less fortunate.

    Ralph Nader was the person who helped to institute car safety standards.  His book was "On a Clear Day You Can See General Motors."  A classic.

  3. Martin Luther and John Calvin reforming the Catholic Church.

    Lenin and Trotsky reforming the Czarist Russian government.

    Stalin and Mao Zedong reforming Russian and Chinese (respectively) economies through 5 year plans and collectivization.

    John Maynard Keyes reforming British economics (Keynesian Economics).

  4. Around the turn of the last century there were journalist who were known as "muckrackers" (I think) and they led a call for reform of factories and living conditions in the heart of the industrial age.  

    Gandhi, was an example of someone who called for reforms of Government. If you want someone more recent.
