  1. I think to most UK citizens they are an irrelevancy. They are a fact of life like rain or wind. Given a choice, most modern people certainly wouldn't invent such a strange idea.

  2. Those people who live under a regime of monarchy like it because of history and tradition.  Having royalty is part of their life, identity and national pride. They have been under kings and queens with their robes, symbols of royalty and dramatic pageantry in their ceremonies.  As the song goes, people need someone to look up to.  The royalty answers this need. Imagine England without Queen Elizabeth!

The United States has no history or tradition of monarchy and our forefathers opted to live under democracy and would never have royalty. Yet, their longing for a king and a queen became evident when they treated JFK and Jackie O as royalty.  This longing is still apparent the way Americans treat movie stars as if they are members of royalty.

  3. Just because people "put up" with them. Doesn't mean that

    they "like them."  <}:-})

  4. I honestly don't know why they do, because i don't, i never did, funny how some people worship them,

I asked this question to many people who support the monarchy, and no sensible answer was given by any one,

only answer was, brings the tourist in, yawn  yawn yawn, that's how it felt like

  5. because they are lazy & dont want to partake.

  6. I think it's because they provide a sense of stability, they are, as some might say, the epitome of a perfect family. Everyone strives for perfection, and to have such a form lead you, would you not also allow them to become your role models after they had seeped into your daily life all the time?

It's also part of the group mentality, familiarity promotes acceptance (just like the media desensitizes people to violence), and this acceptance swells and spreads, so that it becomes popular.

One day, I'm sure someone out there will start an uprising, and monarchism will sink back down in the basket of old fads.

  7. I really dont know!! I cant stand them!

  8. its the result of brainwashing that is imposed by the royals thru their control of the social system, where they rule by use of the power to ostracize critics. So people listen to what the royals want said of them and sooner or later its brainwashed to the core of their minds,

  9. It must just be fondness for an old tradition.  Can't think of any other reason why these old 'royal' dinosaurs would be appreciated.  The  very idea that one's bloodline entitles them to head a country has never sat well with me.

  10. Monarchy is tradition and stability.  This give peoples a feeling of confidence and security.

    best of luck to you!

  11. Nationalism is an amazing phenomena.  It occours in almost any and every state.  Nationalism is (in simple terms) the pride one has in ones state. Nationalism expresses itself very well in the static.

In the case of states which have monarchies as methods of government, the static is a royal family.  The populace is able to take pride in having a family ruling them.  It's a matter of pride (in my opinion).

In other methods of governance different outlets for nationalism exist.  In US democracy the Statue of Liberty, or Pledge of Alligience are ways in which it manifests itself for example.
