Hi there, I was wondering about attending the University of Edinburgh... I live in the US, so would I have to pay extra for tuition? how much? also, what is different in the UK in comparison to the US? Is the university hard to get into? thank you soo much for your answers!!!!

  1. I am an American who studied in Glasgow. Granted it's a different university, but the same general rules will apply. The cost of study will be approximately £12,000 ($24,000) for an overseas student. The universities are a bit easier to get into over here (so I found) and the study regime is quite different to the US university set-up. There is less coursework and more emphasis on test scores and major essays. The best way to find out what the differences are is to contact the International Student office at the university. I know there are a lot of Americans at Edinburgh Uni, so they will be able to give you more specific advice. Studying abroad in Scotland is one of the best decisions I've ever made!

    Good luck!

  2. First off, Edinburgh is a City not a town.

At least you didn`t call it Edinboro :)
