Different one.  It protects each individual if, for example, you break up and the ex vandalizes all your stuff.  If it's all on the same policy, it wouldn't be covered (intentional damage by an insured).

There is *zero* advantage to having your insurance with the same company unless you are married. i.e. two car discount and multi policy discount is not available to you.

It does not make a difference. Even if you part ways you will both have the same insurance.

I got a cheaper car insurance bec my BF and I share the same policy. I got it thru USAA.
