  1. It will not work.  Putting a curfew like that  will hurt everyone economically, nationally.

  2. I'd go for it if it lowered gas prices or benifitted me somehow financially. I try not to be out any later than I have to anyway.

  3. I think you're out of your bloody mind.

I work in an industry that requires me to be available 24/7 at varying locations.  It isn't viable for me to check bus schedules everytime I need to go to a location I've never been to before. People that work nights and graveyard shifts have the same right to drive to and from work as well as for lunch, customer service and other business needs.

You also have night students, like me, who live and work in a city with public transport that is so useless as to be virtually non-existant.  Your proposal would see me driving home from a location 35 miles from my house, taking a shower, feeding the dog, then walking a mile, to take four different busses to arrive at a campus 15 miles away, over the course of two hours, to arrive at my classes. When the classes are over, I would be having to reverse the course, after standing around and waiting for forty-five minutes because the bus only runs once an hour after 8pm.

That would put me back at my house, ready to go to bed, around 2am and needing to be ready to leave for another remote location by 6am.

Does any part of that scream BAD IDEA to you?

I do what if my pet gets sick in the middle of the night? It doesn't involve carrying a 70 pound mongrel a mile to the bus stop and three bus transfers to get to the emergency vet. And who wants to ride a bus with a barfing dog?

As to curfews, as needed. Currently there is no need where I live, so kindly don't go suggesting it for me.

  4. my shift starts at 4 pm and i get off at 3 am , i dont want to sit in the parking lot at work for 3 hours before i go home ... didnt you know people work 2nd shift?

  5. Try typing sober. You'll get more results.

  6. Actually, restricting the traffic to a 12 hour period would make traffic much worse. You're forcing people to get things done in a specific amount of time, while also restricting when employers can have people start and quit. For example, this eliminates afternoon and night shifts. So everyone works 9 to 5, 8 to 4, etc. Rush hour is going to be 6am to 9am then 2pm to 6pm. And since all the people who were working afternoon and night shift are now on the road, that's adding more people to the chaos.

Economically it would hurt, since the trucks that run overnight (such as freight, and FedEx) wouldn't be able to run. Something that might take 2 days to travel cross country, now takes 5, since the driver can't drive past 6pm and would have to battle with the increased amount of drivers on the road.

Personally, it would horribly affect me, since I start work at 5AM (so, leave at 4am) and then have class after work until 10pm, and get home at 11pm.
