  1. It was in bad taste but I agree with you

Put your big girl panties on people

  2. I think its cause they did it while saying

"Harrow ...... You wan Flied Lice with dat?'

EDIT - Who the h**l is the girl below me??? Why hello there!!!

  3. It was just stupid and in poor taste, anyone with half a brain would know it would offend some people and get attention. If that was their intent, there's no problem, right? If it wasn't, whining about the people who took offence is even stupider, patronizing, and patently offencive.

  4. The funny thing is that I haven't heard of a single Chinese person who was offended by the ad- just a lot of Liberal PC cry-babies who are offended by it.

Isn't the purpose of Political Correctness to stop the target of the insult from being offended?  Most of the time, it's the PC police who are the offended ones.

  5. Just goes to show that there are people everywhere who hunt for raise a rukkus about. Kind of like in here.

  6. I must confess my ignorance and say straightaway I don't actually know of the situation you are referring to ..... but I would imagine that the offence is one based in culture - such that in european cultures (where wide, open eyes are the natural features of the peoples) 'squinty'-eyed 'looks' are an indication of mimicry (making sarcastic fun of another) or, because the 'soul' is being covered/disguised therefore the thoughts of the individual are not easy to judge and so cannot be trusted ..... yet in another culture the same look would be considered as respectful: indicating a non-threatening and submissive respondent ..... it really is a case of  'when in Rome do as the Romans do' - in other words a person, gesture, facial expression, situation can and must only be judged by the cultural background of the individual displaying the same - otherwise, as has been shown here, conflict arises by and through a lack of understanding and misinterpretation arising by using the wrong measure to measure by ......

  7. How about actually reading the article YOU posted ...

and I quote, "Whether the picture was made in good fun is irrelevant. It was a ridiculous idea that was bound to upset a lot of people."

  8. Now the Chinese basketball team has to take a picture with their eyes pulled up so they look white.

With cries of "racist!" left and right in today's world, I think this is somewhat ridiculous that it's being given so much attention, but I could imagine it being offensive if it was something I was particularly sensitive about.

  9. It is supposed to be an ad for chinese people. I saw a show and almost every chinese person hated the ads directed towards china. I dont think its offensive (look at family guy and South Park) but i can see how it would offend some one.
