I'm in Australia and I think its bizzare how they sell vague ideas like 'hope' and 'the american spirit' I also find the celebrity endorsements weird.

That just wouldnt happen in Australia. If Hugh Jackman was on a TV ad telling everyone who he was supporting, Australians would be like 'Why should we care who you're voting for? p**s off.'

  1. It`s kind of ridiculous, but that`s what they like to hear in america. It would not work in France, the ppl would ignore it.

  2. What I dont like is the insistence on using election computers which have been proved to be of the "ezyhack" variety. Just do a search on Diebold, who said last year theyd rather lose the contract rather than show their source codes to a judge.

  3. It just seems very long winded to me I mean why do they have those conventions surely after a long campaign to pick the front runners Americans must already know what the candidates stand for and who they will vote for.

It just seems like an opportunity to stroke their egos even more, send people into a frenzy and waste a bit more money.

  4. Ummm so Kevin Rudd rubbing elbows looking for a little support  with Russel Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Peter Garrett, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, and yes Hugh Jackman.... that doesnt count huh?

  5. Most Americans say the same as well as to some our newspapers and television shows I think they just want to say so so said this If it was a just a man on the street they could not print it

Many try and highlight things that make America look silly There must be some reason America is THE world power and were ever i go in this world it is America this America that

You should be careful I travel for years at a time each time i come back i see my follow countryman getting more and more pissed off what is being said about them Just return state side at the airport some Brit was told to go to the sidewalk to get a cab He said we call it a pavement the man said 'who cares what the fleck you call it'' No way to start a vacation but I know how he feels

  6. its all a cheap show in america i think it represents the countrys  culture. if politicians acted the same in greece people would throw tomatoes at them
