My dwarf had 4 babies 9 days ago. Well 2 of them died. Now I think I know the reason. The hamster mom is really skinny. I've been feeding her lots of food but she still is skinny. My parents don't want to take her to a vet. I am literally crying cuz i'm afraid she and her pups mite die. What foods can I feed her to get her fatten up and not be skinny???? Please help!!

  1. if she has food now and getting skinny then there is nothing you can do, there is something medically wrong and the only one that can help is the vet. Your parents need to get a heart and take it to the vet, and you need to beg, cry, plead or what you have to to get her there.

  2. Please, do not touch the babies, the mother might think you are a threat to them and therefore will kill them for her own protection.

You need to just call up your vet and see what they advise you to do, if they ask you to come down there with her - please do, or you may regret it. Tell your parents just how worried you are.

  3. Well she should have eggs, and  bread soaked in milk, or anything high in protein to keep her strength up. Is she eating? If this doesn't work take her to the vet or she WILL die.

  4. exactly how old is your hamster? hamsters have a lifespan of 1 to 2 years and that's counting the period that occurred before you purchased them which could be months.

I've had several hamsters and right before it's their time they stop eating they sleep almost all day and night, and develop a temperament, don't want to be handled, etc.

If this is the case, you may just want to accept that it's the hamster's time to go and focus on the babies and trying to help them.

  5. try giving her some veggies also some scrambled eggs but small peices at a time. hope this helps good luck!
