  1. I'm in Marine Reserves and a law enforcement officer.  We use Krav Maga.  We are taught simple forms it's easier to learn and execute.  If you are getting attacked your goal is to get control of the situation instantly.  You really don't want to have a boxing match with the attacker.  You use offensive tactics to create space so you can then use OC spray, tasers or your weapon.  Simple is better.

  2. Krav Maga is an extremely dangerous art.  It was born of actual combat not exercise or inner peace or simulating harmony of life...etc.

To teach something, to everyone and anyone, that is meant to show no mercy, kill or be killed, survival types of techniques, tactics would not only be irresponsible but also very time consuming.  Think of how much time and training special forces teams take to learn all the tactics and maneuvers they use.  They live and breath it...thats why they are in the military.  Trying to condense that and keep it real would be very hard in one hour classes even five times a week .  In a military environment there is more control on who is learning this stuff also.  Thats why not every guy who signs up for service gets to be special forces.

The krav maga taught is still very rough, very real, and is still every bit as dangerous but it has to be modified to be able to teach a group for a limited amount of time.  Even during the month long seminars I have read about you still couldnt get everything there is to learn about it.  And its really an everyday type of readiness not just a class for a few days a week.  Krav Maga is really something to be respected.  I don't practice it but not because I wouldn't like to.

  3. They mean that for American Krav Maga nobody teaches everything that the Israeli soldiers are taught.

For example - Israeli Army carry guns and they are taught to strike with the butt of the weapon, the barrel of the weapon, etc. without pulling the trigger - nobody in the US carries around assault rifles, so we don't learn this aspect of Krav.

Also, the Israeli Army have objectives where they need to use crowd control tactics - non-military Krav Maga students in the US don't need to know how to stop a riot or protect a diplomat from a crowd.

The Krav Maga that is taught here is simple, effective hand-to-hand combat techniques against 1 or multiple opponents.  Not the comprehensive training that soldiers go through.

People say that there are "secret" Krav Maga techniques that are taught elsewhere.  That's nonsense.  There are training techniques we don't use (and aren't allowed to use) like fighting with pepper spray in your eyes or getting real beatdowns in training (broken fingers, bloody noses).

If any American school taught that way, they'd be sued, and they wouldn't have many students. Imagine going into class day one and meeting your instructor - who then punched you in the face full power. And who wants to go home bloody, injured and dirty after their self-defese class?   By and large American civilians unlikely to get in situations in which they need to kill someone or defend themselves against attackers.  Soldiers train differently because they need to.

  4. the gereral public cant know more then a watered down version becase it litterally is no mercy play to kill fighting...the general population is not inteligent or responsible enough for that knowledge however thats not to say that it would be a funny thing to see lol sorry long night of work
