On the football team one of my team-mates said he tasted peanut butter after he got hit really hard on to the ground. Other people say they taste things like coffee and parsley. What causes this reaction?

  1. becausee 1 they might be thinking of food.OR 2 they are blocking the thought that they just got popped

  2. I guess its what they ate before getting hit? Idk.

  3. im not sure... ithink what it might be is that maybe your brain gets rattles enough so that it tricks your sensory organs into tasting weird stuff....maybe they bite their tongue and they think that they taste something...for personal experience ive collided pretty d**n hard with a few of my tea mates and i thought ive tasted a metallic taste before....almost like i was sucking on a quarter or something...lol

  4. IIt happens to a lot of people (I'm one of them) when you get hit hard or have a hard workout, because of either a buildup of lactic acid or blood vessels bursting.

  5. It is the activation of a nerve in your brain. it doesn't have to be peanut butter, but any thing really.  It could taste like a ham sandwich if that is where you got crushed.

(check out Micheal Crichtons "The Terminal Man".  they talk about stimulating different pin points in the brain that can activate any of these memories, including taste and smell.)

  6. When you get hit really hard in football it causes several reactions.  One of these is slight nausea, which basically means that you want to throw-up.  The taste of food is whatever you ate or drank recently that may still be in your stomach.
