  1. That would be me.

Not one of the older or insecure driver that in a 40 limit road, do 32 or less.

I am one of those really annoying drivers that sticks to the speed limit.

I WILL NOT be bullied into driving above the speed limit no matter how close you drive to me.

I get less insurance as I am an Advanced Driver as well.

Knowing that my driving is forcing people that speed (and potentially kill people because of that speed) to slow down helps me sleep soundly at night.

98% of drivers are criminals that break the speed limits on our roads, slowing only for Police Cars and Speed Cameras.

    Don't believe me?

Drive for 1 week at the speed limits on your local roads and see what happens.

Drive at 70 (the Speed Limit) on any motorway and count the amount of cars that pass you.

    See?

  2. They don't...

The type of driver who ambles along an 'A' road at 40mph or the middle lane of a motorway at 60mph, does that because they are completely UNAWARE of anything outside their own vehicle.

They don't know the queue exists, because they don't know any other road users exist.

The traffic police refer to them as MABS ('mobile accident black spots').

  3. Not for much longer that's how...they're usually old.

  4. i hate people doing that but now i find myself doing that a little because of gas prices

i work for my dad he owns a mortgage company a because the market i had him lower my pay so the business can survive and i drive a car that gets 15 mpg it sucks

so i use cruise control everywhere but at least i go 5-10 over the speed limit depending where it is and if there is cops there

  5. how do i live with myself in that situation?? quite easily actually, if i am sticking to the speed limit then im not going to go any faster, if you want a fine and points on your licence that is your perogative

  6. Actually you're wrong - a professional driver will tell you that the speed limit is just that and is as fast as you can legally drive meaning any slower is fine unless you are posing a danger to others.

If someone is driving at the speed limit then you can hardly expect them to break the law simply because there maybe nothing in front and a line of traffic behind - perhaps if this was the case those behind should learn to keep within the limit.

  7. I know exactly what you mean, just the other day a friend of mine  was pottering along quite happily doing just on 40 mph, just like you say nothing in front, big queue behind.

Three cars overtook him with some very interesting salutes.

He caught them up about five hundred yards later - amazing what happens when you drive an unmarked police car.

He lives with himself quite well really.

  8. Oh, I know your behind me......

& I know it annoys you.

    :)

  9. LMAO! I have often thought that!

  10. SLOW DRIVERS CAUSE THE MOST ACCIDENTS AND THATS A FACT.

most annoying thing is BREAKING ON A CORNER! WHY!?!? it causes sooo much danger. its generally these drivers that break round corners. if i come across one, yes i overtake them at the first moment. however, i am not a speed limit breaker, i wil do 65 max on 60 road and 75 max on a 70 road but no more.

it does my head in, and many other drivers. and you can see people edgeing out all the time as they are getting impatient nearly getting taken out. JUST DO THE GOD d**n SPEED LIMIT AT LEAST!!!!

  11. I rarely find myself in that position and when I do it is usually a road works and I am first away. however does it not perhaps occur to you that the first driver can see what you can not.

How long have you been driving?

  12. they probably ride a push bike, hug trees, wear green cords, and drink thier own pi55

  13. er, when you drive your car, who do you pay attention to? the d**k behind you who wants to go faster? or common sense, which says im in a 40, doing 43-45mph... and your the impatient idiot who wants to go faster, because he thinks he can... ...

im driving with care and consideration... unlike you...

you want to go fast, be my guest... but, the other night i went out, and a guy in a 635csi BMW followed me off the estate... and i drove as i do, at just over the speed limit... i could see him continually trying to pull out and squeeze past...

he failed, and i could see he was getting impatient... we got around the corner, and i saw 100 yards ahead plod with his hairdryer, hiding in the bushes...i looked at my speedo, 32mph... if i hadnt been driving with due care and paying attention, i'd have got nicked, and so would Mr 635csi.. who might well have been banned...

speed limits are there for a reason... plod doesnt care if you wrap your stupidity around a lampost, they dont want you killing innocent kids...

  14. i think the point was about the type of people who on a 60 mph road do 35, and then (normally) speed up when they hit a 30 zone.

most drivers, myself included are happy to go at or very close to the speed limit (there are always idiots)

I do believe there should be a minimum speed limit, after all if the driver is unable to control their vehicle in a manor suitable to the conditions then they must surely be unfit to drive, and what better proof than not being to drive within 25mph of the speed limit on a dead straight piece of A-road?

  15. Easy-speed freaks are the dangerous ones..eg i have a 4x4 and if you were in the road would you like me to hit you ay 30 or 50 mph? Nuff said

  16. Any proffessional driver will tell you ,a traffic queue is always the fault of the second vehicle in it,for not overtaking.Think about it.

  17. Have a star for sharing My hatred.

  18. Hey, someone's gotta be at the head of the queue..

  19. I understand, you're doing the speed limit and everyone behind you are the impatient ones.  Who cares?  How hard is it to move out of the way and let people pass?  If i want to speed, who the h**l are you to tell me I can't.  If I get into an accident, it's my problem.  You don't have the right to dictate how fast I drive MY car.  That's what police are for.

  20. According to the highway code any vehicle that has a q of more than 5 vehicles must pull over when safe to do so and allow faster traffic to pass. Providing speedlimit will not be breached or front vehicle is not maintaining maximum permissable speed.

  21. slowly probably.

  22. Usually, the people creating these long lines do drive at the right speed, it's the people behind who would like to go faster than the speed limit who always complain....

  23. whats wrong with overtaking? My car doesnt go any faster if you dont wanna see my rear just step on it - I'll catch up with ya at the traffic light or the next line of traffic ;)

  24. I have driven for over 30 years and drive at or below the speed limit, I usually pull over to let people pass.

On motorways, you will see me pull into the left hand lane when it is safe to do so, to let those in a hurry pass.

After all if they want a ticket, they can have one.

I drive to get the max mpg figure on the display of my car, and to minimise the wear, I aim for 60mpg. This means gradual acceleration and braking in plenty of time. What used to be called careful driving.

I also ride a fast motorcycle that cuts through traffic, most drivers simply let me pass them, so I return the favour when in a car.

The key is to plan ahead, start early and keep calm.

  25. a few years ago we came up with the idea that six cars would drive up the main m4 motorway between Bristol and London then go round the m25 blocking all lanes and doing the max speed limit of 70mph when we asked the police if this was OK we were told yes but they understand to keep the roads clear some drivers must go over 70 and the ones that stick to the legal speed or below are the ones that are the problem my point here is then why have a speed limit for cars that can't go more than 80 when new cars of today have to be restricted to 155mph for EU stupid regulations

by the way i often travel from Bristol to London and on one occasion i was overtaken by a porch one mile up he was pulled over ten Min's later he went past me again then yes you guessed it i went past him after he was stopped again this went on for over 100 miles and yes you guessed it i arrived in London before him

take your time and the police will not bother you if you annoy the guy behind let him pass then annoy him when you go passed him or her when the police have pulled them over and you get there first

and if you are the one at the front of the queue the one behind annoying you should say thanks you have saved me a fine and possibly ban

    i rest my case
