People that freeze themself for the future to be defrosted?

i think its pretty funny because even if they could be defrosted why would people in the future bother to do it lol.if you had a family memeber from five hundred years ago that could be defrosted for 20,000 dollars would you?

The stuff movies are made of.  From what I understand the freezing can only be done after the person dies.  So I fail to see the point.  In the movies it seems to be a "given" that people  in the future will have ascended to a higher level of empathy and knowledge.  Therefore they would revive them and cure them of whatever ailment they have.
