No. This is one of the few things that can't be taken lightly, along with terminal illnesses. If someone makes such a joke, he is either evil and cruel, or simply more stupid than an earthworm.

I might forgive them - it depends.  Depends on what I'd said to them.

Why did they do it?  No idea - I wasn't there.  Can only think either they're sick beyond anything decent, or, they had it up to their back teeth with you and want you to know it.

and right when they have that look of complete disgust and fear on thier face.

id look right at them and say ....while coldly smiling the whole time.

No I would never forgive someone for something like that.  They do it because they feel they can say anything to you without consequence, and that it is something that cannot be changed.  And it hurts, most of all.

Do you think they'd tease a policeman about being shot?  Or Mike Tyson about getting beat up?  Or your boss about how unattractive he / she is when hoping to remain employed or when looking for a raise?

They don't view rape as a serious crime.....or even a crime for that matter.

I'm sorry but I would have nothing to so with them .... its all well and good to say they are your family but if they don't act or care as a family should then why see them? I would disown them and start a new life for myself before I ended up thinking the rape was all my fault.

why do they do it? because they either dont believe it happened or they dont think that its that traumatizing or it scares them and they dont want to deal with it.

My best friend got you know by someone. She got a book about it and it really helped her vent. Maybe you could vent in a way and maybe you could try talking to your family. It depends i might forgive them I wouldn't know maybe they try to sympathise but are just not able to because they havent gone through it. I really think you should ask them (im 12 please dont think im dumb)!

I can also relate to you i think im ugly and my friends take the micky of my insecurities because i let them stand up and speak your thoughts :)

How do they tease? That's completely unacceptable. I've tried for years to work through the pain of this happening to me, and if someone made fun or questioned my attire I would be furious!

It's sad that people just don't think this stuff happens, when it is so common.

Maybe they were raped themselves, and were told to ignore it.So, now they think they can do the same thing to you by making you feel bad.  Abuse is rampant in my family, so obviously they just shrug or ignore it when they heard about me being sexually abused.  It's more common than people think to hear about family members blaming another family member for being raped.  

I'm not the best person to ask this though, because I'm still very attached to my family and an ex who did make me feel bad for being molested.  I forgive them because I think they don't understand, and I don't want them out of my life.

It's up to you how you want to deal with it though.   If they start making fun of you, hang up the phone, walk out of the room, drive away, say that it hurts your feelings, etc.

That is the sickest thing I ever heard.

The only time I've heard about a girl being teased for being raped was when she fabricated the story.  Guys are accused of rape often it seems and on some occasions these allegations are untrue.  It makes it harder for the people who are truely raped.
