I want one that works REALLY well; that I can straighten my thick curly hair with pretty fast , and that will make it stay in for a long time , or at least the whole day (without getting wet) and wont break the bank ...

What do you recommend ?

And where can you get it ( I live in Canada .. )?

If you're giving me one they you have what type of hair do you have and how long does it take to straighten ?

I have a ceramic series by Helen of Troy now , i was told it was good by my hair dresser , but it doesn't work really well ...

  1. GHD's

  2. I bought a straightener for about 60 dollars from Target.  I think its conair

I can't find a link but it works really well.

I have thick curly hair like you, and it workssss!

Just make sure you get one thats about 1", ceramic, and gets really hot.  Mine goes from 200-400 degrees Fahrenheit. (I use the 300 setting on mine)

Another trick that I've learned is to tie up half of your hair, and straighten the whole bottom portion.  Puish all that back, and then tackle the top.  It will be much straighter, and will last longer, and be softer.  Best of luck!

the chi straighteners are good, but usually run a couple hundred dollars, and my hair always smelled burnt after using my sisters.

  3. I like the chi and you can get one from chi.com or something like that. Just google chi hair straightener.

  4. Try "Le Angelique." I think that's how you spell it. That's what I have, and it works GREAT. It's a bit on the expensive side though. Good luck!

  5. A lot of times what they recommend at your salon is just to make money.  I use the Remington Wet to Straight hair straightener, I have super thick curly/wavy/frizzy hair.  It works extremely fast, and works really well when your hair is partially wet, it steams your hair and makes it very shiny without breaking it.  I use mine on damp hair and it takes 10-15 mins...

  6. I hear Chi is a really good straightener.

  7. Get a Sedu, Solia, or a Chi. They are probably the 3 top straighteners. You can buy them at folica.com and pick the one you think is best for your hair type.

I have a Solia and I have long thick curly hair and I straighten it in about 5-7 minutes.

  8. You should buy a chi, because they can be a bit pricey but they are worth it, and it is good for black, white, and hispanic hair...

  9. i also have really thick and curly hair and i use a chi..at first it takes awhile for it to work really well and fast, but after awhile of straightening your hair with it it gets easier and takes way less time.

  10. The Sedu works really well on all hair types, I have one it works amazing! It is rated the best one on Folica

  11. Go to your hairdresser and get them to order one that they use for you. I did this and I love my straightener

  12. chi straighteners are amazing and you can get them at any salon or beauty supply outlet.

ghd straighteners are good too, but a little more expensive, and you can get them at sephora.

  13. DO NOT get a Chi. My cousin had one and it broke two weeks after she bought it, so she bought another one and the same thing happened. I have a Jilbere De Paris. I'm not sure if they have a Sally's beauty supply store in Canada but you could try googling Jilbere De Paris retailers in Canada. I have very thick, course, wavy hair and I can straighten it in a matter of thirty minutes. It looks great too. Make sure when you straighten it though you divide your hair into sections so your not just straightening the top. Try using some straightening products too. My straightener was $49.00 I think. It was a christmas gift.
