  1. I got one for australia two years ago but i didnt go. a few days ago i got one that would send me on a trip through ireland, wales, the netherlands, and england. but THIS IS A SCAM. i was looking for information today and i found many many accounts of horrible things that have happened to kids on these trips. and when the parents called for an explanation, all they got was a rude remark about not handing out free trips. seriously. i thought itd be awesome to go, but man, id prefer to be allowed to lock my door and get fed once in a while if i go to europe.

  2. My niece went to Australia with this program about three years ago and she had a blast!

She got a letter in the mail inviting her to be a part of the program. For about three months before the trip she met with the kids in her group that would be traveling and they would have a little Saturday school session.

She said the trip was worth it, and that she learned a lot. I believe she was 16 when she went.

  3. I think it's true because when I went to Europe, I remember seeing the children with People to People and they looked legit to me. I heard that it was established by President Eisenhower or something like that. The kids had official shirts on and had chaperones, they were going to Australia that time too, this was about 6 years ago. If you have the money you should go for it, it'll be a good experience.

  4. The People to People Student Ambassador Program is one of my biggest clients. They house their kids at my hotels when they stay in my area.

They are very legit, well established, and it is a great program - very educational, and totally worth it. The kids get to see the DC area (and other areas as well), they hear speakers from all areas of the government, and the kids have the time of their lives.

You will need to get your own passport. They will tell you how to do so if you need help. You will also get credit for school...how much you get may depend on your school. You will need to ask your advisor or principal.

I went on a program quite similar to it when I was in high school and it was a fantastic experience. Good luck, and have fun!
