ok, here's the deal:

i'm 13, about to be 14 in like 2 months. i live in north louisiana. and i'm heading into the 8th grade. last fall, during the month of october i went to Washington D.C. (and we visited other cities, such as Philadelphia) in the JrNylc program. I've also got letters since then to participate in Pylc (or something like that) to attend the president's inaguration in january of 2009 but i don't really want to attend that program mainly cause I've already been to D.C. and that's alot of money for basically the exact same things as before. Then today, I got a letter in the mail from the 'People to People' program. They said I'm nominated to go to a 19 day trip in EUROPE!!!! (Italy, Swittzerland, Austria, France) I'm like stoked. I've never been out of the country. The farthest I've ever traveled (other than D.C.) is Tennessee. Yeah, I was just wondering how much do you think all this will cost? And how do we get from country to country? Do we fly? If so, do we have to buy the plane tickets? Or does that go into the main cost? How is everything set up? Are we in groups like we were in JrNylc? Just tell me everything you know. Please! I already reserved a spot in a local meeting that explains everything. But, that's in like 1 1/2 month and I'm kind of anxious. By the way, where do we stay? I read something about staying with another family? But I wasn't quite clear.

  1. well all those places are very close together (texas is almost bigger than the size of europe) so, you can literally drive. you will need passports since you have never been out of the country, and you will have to take a plane to get to Europe. (cars don't fly yet) the trip that you are describing could cost in the range of $6,000 and up, but it depends on how many people are going with you. You will probably stay in a hotel, because those that stay in other people's homes are usually foreign exchange students.

  2. I got a letter to go to England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Last year I was invited to go to China and I did some research on it. As far as I know, you do stay a night or two with a host family. I read on another question that was asked that the Europe trip cost the person $7,000 to go. Also as far as I know, that amount pays for the hotel and flight, maybe meals (I'm not sure about that). I'm pretty sure that amount also pays for all of the basic activities you do. I hope this helps. This is all the info I have found out about it so far

  3. Please trust me!  My sister did this.  She went to Europe, too.  You stay in hotels.  You go sightseeing. Yes, you fly there.  And the plane tickets I think are in the main cost.  This trip costs about 4,000 dollars.   No, you don't stay with another "family" because only YOU go.  Not your parents.  You just stay with other children.  But, you do have counselors.

    Hope I Helped.
