I recieved a letter in the mail about people to people. Ummm going to China in the summer of 2009. Is this worth it. I'm going to the meeting to learn more about it in September and I don't know if it's gonna be worth it. I heard that all the freshman in my school got a letter also. What is your recommendation? What do you think I should do??

  1. Any opportunity to go over seas is GOOD.  However, check out the veracity of the offers and ask dozens of questions.

You will learn more in 6 months in China, than you will learn in 4 years of college.  IF you apply yourself and stay off the computer while you are there. Immerse yourself in the foreign culture and stay out of touch with your home-country friends, so that you can find out what is China and the people are like.

  2. i got one too but i'm going to europe

you could go to the meeting to see what they say and then go from there

  3. I haven't been on a trip but I did get invited to one. Many of the people  I've talked to really enjoyed the trips and had a lot of fun.

Heres what I've said to myself, it may be expensive but this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Even though I truly believe you can learn a lot by going to China for 17 days, even if you don't its still going to be a lot of fun and a great experience.

From now you have about 7 months until the start of summer. The trips usually cost $4,000-$9,000 but, before you start to plan out how your going to make your money call the number on the letter to see the exact cost. Now I don't know your families financial situation but ask our parents and even other family members such as your uncle to fund a portion of it for you.

To make up for the other half you could do simple neighborhood jobs like mowing the lawn or washing cars. Your helping someone out and your making a good amount of money. Even chores in your house would be a huge help to your parents.

Make different deals with your parents to help you raise money. Something like instead of buying a name brand product buy a less expensive product that still suits you or works just as well. Take the money you save from buying the less expensive product and put towards the trip.

This isn't helping out the community but its an idea. Bring your old clothes or toys to a store like Once Upon a Child or Plato's Closet, they usually pay cash for your old items (that are in good to fair condition, of course.)

This is all I can come up with for now I really hope I helped. The little things just might begin to add up! If you need anymore information on the trip I can give you all that I've gathered together from previous people who have traveled on the trips. Just e-mail me!
