  1. i have autism and hate change so i would kill myself

  2. in most people with autism they don't handle change well so this would be a very difficult situation for them to handle. People with autism have a very hard time communicating and due to this they would get very frustrated and not be able to express their emotions very clearly. In this situation the main character would probably shut down. they would express many changes in behavior. they would feel helpless and in some instances get aggressive. hope this helps!

  3. I have aspergers and I would probably scream and cry in my room and stay in there for a week

  4. I guess you're not far enough along to the part where Chris finds out his mother is alive and his dad's been hiding this from Chris. He handles it by never trusting his father again and by moving in with his mother. Even by buying Chris a dog, what he's always wanted, Chris' dad cannot win Chris' trust back. I'm autistic and I find it nearly impossible to trust anyone because they always do something they think is helpful or take advantage of me due to my disability and it winds up being a total disaster. Better to write them off as much as possible. You're getting an insider's perspective.

  5. You need to read the book and interpret his feelings-

all people with autism are different-so we can't tell you how Christopher is feeling--

Can you tell us some of his reactions?  then we may be able to help yo interpret them

  6. Autism affects a persons ability to communicate their thoughts and feelings or their wants and needs, they also have social awkwardness, often thought to be odd or eccentric, and miss social cues such as waiting for their turn.

They are also easily started by loud noises and may yell or  start to flap their hands etc, a change of their normal routine will certainly upset them, unless they have had some warning their normal routine is going to change, it is not unusual for an autism person to become overly attached to a certain person or objects or colour. They also like to play by themselves, rarely interacting with others

People with Autism feel the same things we do, but due to communication and social difficulties they may express their sadness in crying, yelling or a increase in repetitive behaviours (hand flapping or rocking), or they may withdraw altogether from others especially in crowed rooms etc, occasionally their behaviour maybe come very aggressive if they feel trapped or threatened by people they don't know.

Ideally someone who works with them on a regular basis needs to be with them as a support, but also the carer can pick signs of distress & anxiety early and get them out before they become to distressed and act out in frustration.

I work with people with autism.

  7. Autism is a spectrum disorder so some people with autism may be totally oblivious to much of what he experienced and some people might be very distressed by much of what he goes through.

My brother has autism and he is not as high functioning as Christopher in the book. I know a boy about 13 who is pretty much a match for Christopher and does all sorts of things by himself. I also know a person with autism who had their father killed in a car accident and she was very upset.

I can't really answer how a person with autism would feel to be told their mom died only to find out she is alive as that is a pretty far fetched thing but as most of us would be really confused, I would expect his confustion was rather accurate and would be much like a "typical person".

I also think his fear of his dad after the fight and the lying was probably pretty accurate although maybe a bit magnified because of his autism.

    I hope this helps.

  8. People with autism have social and communication deficits so that would effect the way they handle situations.

  9. wow coincidentally I have been diagnosed with Autism and im also reading that same book right now too and have to to do a project.

I would love to help you and talk to you all abot it.
