Most people know what the Union Jack looks like (not sure if you are aware of it's name, see this image:

But Im not sure if most non-UK citizens know what the flags of the UK look like (wales, scotland, northern ireland and england). Do you?

  1. I'm from an upper-class English family that can trace their lineage bag for nearly a millenium- and I can't tell you.

  2. I think everyone knows what the English flag looks like.

I go abroad twice a year, and I have been to loads of different countries, and when I've been asked, where do you come from, when I say Wales they just look at me with a blank expression! I've had responses, well yeah, so your from England? And I say, no I'm from Wales!

So some places have either never heard of it, or think it's in England, so they may even think the same for Scotland and northern Ireland!

So obviously I know what they look like, however I can't say the same for all the other countries. Obviously some people know, and some don't.

But then, I don't have a clue what half of world flags are. Only a few. lol

  3. I'd image other European people would know because of the football, and Aussies and Canadians would know too, but pretty unlikely that a lot of people from the USA would be aware of it. Be interesting to see!

  4. the england one is red and white not sure what type of red and it is a cross type similar to the UK flag and the wales flag is whtie on top and green on the bottom ? and has like a dragon which is red to orange in color. i dont know the scottish nor the n. ireland flag. yes i have heard the name "union jack"

  5. Yes I am aware of what it looks like.

  6. well irish is green white and orange vertical bars (not sure on the oreder)

engeland is a red cross on a white flag

scotland is a white x on a blue flag

    wales i dunno

  7. You should know that the flag of Britain is NOT the Union Jack, it's the Union Flag. It's only called the Union Jack when it's flown on a ship.

Just for (not-so) Supermel, the flag of Wales is the Welsh Dragon.
