I'm going to Canada next year. I'm flying to Edmonton and coming back from Vancouver. Are there any places in between that you would recommend visiting? Cheers.

  1. h**l's Canyon and Emory Creek Provincial Park. Just beautiful!

  2. You are driving I guess?    I have done the drive many times using various routes and the one I would suggest to get off the "tourists usual path" and for maximum visuals is to head south out of edmonton on Hwy#2 to Red Deer than head west on Hwy#11 which will take you through the Siffeleur wilderness (very few tourists and lots of wildlife and some very stunning scenary from Rocky Mountain House through to Columbia Ice field Highway.   Take columbia icefield hwy south which is clear in the summer (there is a snow cat tour available which takes you up on the icefields you might want to check out) and continue south thru the columbia icefields down to Hwy#1.  Jaunt east on Hwy#1 to visit the Banff townsite. Coming out of Banff head Hwy#1 west through Banff Park, then Yoho Park, across Rogers Pass and through Golden, Salmon Arm.  Before you get to Kamloops on Hwy#1 you can (optionally) turn south on 97C to tour through Vernon and Kelowna regions (Okanagan Valley) which is a really nice area.  If your into vineyards and wine  a side trip from Kelowna down to Penticton at the south end of the lake will take you past dozens of wineries.  If not into that, when you get to Kelowna just head onto the 97C connector west from Westbank over to Merrit BC and continue on Hwy#5 through to Hope where it joins Hwy#1 (trans Canada) and follow that west through to vancouver.

Edmonton to vancouver straight driving is 11-12 hours but of course breaking it up with a day or two here and there its not so bad.  The route I am giving you is about 15 hours of driving total.

In Edmonton; visit West edmonton Mall... 1,000 stores and a huge indoor waterpark and amusement rides etc,,  its worth a day in itself.  http:///www.westedmontonmall.com

In Vancouver;  tour Stanley park downtown of course. Also in vancouver head over to the "North Shore" up to http://grousemountain.com (great views and such) and or Capilino suspension bridge as Vancouvers #1 tourists attractions.    Shopping in vancouver; Robson street

Have a great time,... your going to love it and be sure to bring a camera.

  3. If you can, try to get to Banff National Park.
