  1. it depends how old the plane you're on is. I was on a 747 from the 80's that just had a few scattered tvs on the ceiling with a few B-comedys.

if you get one of the newer 747s or a 767/777, you will probably have your own TV above on the head rest in front of you that you can change from your arm console.

  2. The food is fairly good. One time we had cottage pie for lunch, one time we had chicken rice salad etc. We flew on a 777 and the entertainment was great. We each had our own T.V moniter in the seat in front with remote. We could watch movies, TV shows, listen to selected playlists, listen to radio stations and more. The seats were quite comfortable and there was plenty of food variety and we were provided with head pillows in case we wanted a snooze. It also showed a 3D map type thing on the moniter of our destination and departing city and how many miles/kilometres it was and how long it would take on average.

  3. HEY i live in new zealand so i always fly air new zealand and yes they have TV's and u can choose your own movies and play games music watever u want and the food is pretty good and its great but if u are flying in new zealand u will not have t.vs (most likely not if ur flying in new zealand)

And money if u are buying lots of food take out can be kinda pricey so Pack'n'Save and countdown and foodtown super markets are good and i hope u have a good time also if u are in auckland go to the sky tower its great

  4. when i flew air NZ i wasn't impressed, to be honest. The food was boring (it was a dry focaccia) and i felt cramped and claustrophobic. the service was great though and i was super-pleased they had a music station totally devoted to bic runga, who i love! we had a shared television at the front of the cabin, and did not have our own tv with games etc.

my sister flew air NZ the same on the same day of week, but the previous week, and she was given a beautiful lasagne for lunch and enjoyed the experience a lot more than i did.

I was only on a 4-hour flight from melbourne to auckland so it wasn't long-haul. i think their long-haul flights are better.

i've found emirates to be the best to fly with. they have brilliant entertainment (hundreds of movies to choose from, your own personal tv screen, games, music, etc) and the food is excellent.

  5. who cares about the plane ride. you should be thinking about the holiday

  6. I only fly with Air New Zealand or Qantas! They are the two best airlines in the world! Air NZ is great I have never had a problem with them! Inc. long haul ecomony (15 hrs) they are fabulous!

  7. I've flown with Air New Zealand long haul and they are quite good.  The food is not bad - they have 22 special meal options available.  Air NZ has just introduced a new on demand inflight entertainment system for economy passengers, sounds great.

  8. i went from london to auckland last year with air new zealand.

i found the crew helpful, the food average but not too bad, the service excellent and the plane kept very tidy.

overall i would give them about three and a half stars, they are quite nice for economy.

  9. I have flown extensively with Air New Zealand, & I have never had a bad experience with them. food is good, personal service by flight crew is Excellent - even on low fare rates. I give them 11 out of 10, go the Kiwis!!

My longest trip was Auckland, NZ to Los Angeles, to London, & return. No problems at all, entertainment is on a par with most others, in economy class.

Enjoy your trip & Happy Flying!

  10. Air New Zealand is pretty good. You will have good meals, they have a good variety of drinks with New Zealand and Australian wines .Water is brought through at regular intervals throughout the trip.

It depends on what plane you are on re entertainment. They have good movies but some planes have small screens at intervals down the cabin. Others have the individual screens on the seat in front of you.I would expect the long haul flights should mostly have these.

The staff are always helpful. So you should enjoy the flight.

  11. Its funny, I pretty much always travelled Air NZ to Oz, and went with them to London ( via LA) ...at the time they did not have in seat entertainment ( just 1 large screen) ( this was 2004) but I know now they are putting it in their long haul planes).

I thought everything was ok...although being stuck over the atlantic, hungry and being offered only egg options for breakfast ( when I HATE eggs) was not good and I was pretty hungry.

Anyway I came back a couple of times and went with Singapore air and was really impressed with them...I had better food, better entertainment and was offered food and drink more often ( snacks)....eg I had to ring the bell to get water on AirNZ but they came around quite a few times offereing water on Singapore.

Now I am not saying its bad...I have heard it has a good reputation, but I found everything better on Singapore and would be happier to travel with them again...I did chose them over Air NZ when coming back, mainly for the breakfast options and entertainment.
