  1. First of all, congratulations!  Second of all, if you have any doubts you should contact your DR., even if you can't reach him, one of his nurses should be able to tell you.

  2. It's normal you should be fine until Friday to see your doctor i bleed like that with my first child.

  3. Hey congrats on the baby!!

For me that was normal. for about 3 weeks. But hearing and reading that it was normal wasn't enough for me I still had it in the back of my head that I was going to die. So yes it is normal but for your own piece of mind call the doc and hear it from the horses mouth I'm sure that will make you feel much better!

  4. As long as you feel okay, I'd say it's normal.  Unless the clots look funny (dark, old-looking blood) or you start to feel funny with abnormal cramping, dizziness, etc., you can wait until Friday.

  5. i had the same thing when i had my son i went to the doctors and showed him one of the clots i was passing, gross i know but i took it in a jar and it turned out to be parts of the afterbirth that they hadnt removed properly so go to your gp

Any bleeding more than a heavy period should be reported to your doctor. There are serious problems that can result in heavy bleeding or recurrent large clots. Keep in mind, though, that a large clot is only the sudden passage of a clump of partially clotted blood that's been collecting for some time. What you're seeing may be a whole night's collection, with sudden vertical position upon rising allowing gravity to cause it to fall out. But recurrent clots aren't normal.

When should I call the midwife or doctor?

Call your midwife or doctor if the bleeding:

    • soaks more than one towel an hour

    • remains heavy and bright red after the first week

    • returns to bright red four or more days after birth and does not improve with bedrest

    • has large blood clots (bigger than a 50p piece)

    • has a foul smell and you come down with a fever and/or chills.

In rare cases, some women will have what is known as secondary postpartum haemorrhage. If you have abnormally heavy bleeding where you are actively trickling blood from the v****a, with or without clots, (saturating a sanitary pad within an hour), call your doctor or midwife immediately. This could be a sign that a piece of the placenta was left inside the uterus or that the uterus isn't shrinking properly. If you're bleeding briskly and feeling faint, call an ambulance.

  7. From what I can remember about it from having my babies, it's normal.

  8. Gave birth June 15th.  I remember the midwife telling me not to worry about anything smaller than a fist.  This seems extreme, and I can imagine that I would start freaking out if anything even close to a fist came out, but I took what she said seriously.  Additionally, I didn't even start having clots until after the first week - before that it was just liquidy.  I wouldn't worry, as August 15th was only 10 days ago - even now, 2 months later I still have some pinkish discharge every once in a while (midwife said this is perfectly normal).  Remember - its like 9 months worth of periods up there!  (Of course, I know this isn't true, but it brings a little perspective to what seems like a crazy amount of blood).  Healing takes time!  Use the clots as evidence that you are still recovering, because you are.

  9. Yes I would go sooner. I had clotting for about the first week but then it was like a light period for the next 3-4 weeks. Don't risk getting an infection get checked! Congrats

  10. Congrats, thats a perfect day for a baby to be born :) I was...I had them that big, I was told if the clots were bigger then a loonie I had to go to the ER. Just wait till friday if they dont get any bigger and also mention it to your doctor.

  11. Pretty normal, but call your doctor and ask anyway. Do not be embarrassed, they should be totally used to women calling. This is your health, don't mess with it.

  12. It never hurts to call your doctor if you're concerned about it. However, I was definitely still have lots of bleeding 10 days after giving birth. I was using very thick pads and still changing very often. I didn't actually quit bleeding until roughly 21 days after birth. Good luck!

  13. My doctor told me if I had a blood clot the size of a golf ball, I should call them up and go in. In all honestly, I would call them up and explain to them what is going on, then they can decide if they want to see you sooner. I wish you the best of luck!

    Congrats on the baby btw!

  14. not normal, you need to be seen now!

  15. I had clots for about 4 weeks after both of my babies, very large clots for the 1st week or 2.  I would just ask the doctor about it when you go on Friday unless you have other symptoms.

  16. i dont know about that.... but maybe you should try drinking hot or warm water instead of cold drinks... i have had two babies before and i havent had that problems but it can be because you are drinking cold water or drinks and it makes your blood clots... ask the doctors... i think that it should be normal...

  17. It is normal. I had clots for about 4 weeks.  You should call the doctor if there is an odor or something else (I can't remember, I'm sorry). If you are nervous about it,  call your OB.

  18. With my first baby I had crazy big clots and they said it was completely normal.  Friday should be soon enough for them to check you out.  If you are too worried it doesn't hurt to call the nurses and ask for their advice.  Sometimes they like to check you just to make sure it's nothing.

  19. I had a similar experience 2 wks postpartum , it was left over

    placental tissue from detachment....

I would still page my doctor if I were you, especially if it is happening

    often

    Congrats!
