People who keep it too real

Question

I believe it's good to be honest, but some people keep things too real! You ever met somebody who just tells things like they are, and when you let them know you're offended, they just say "I'm just being real." Doesn't it p... you off? For example, when somebody insults someone's sexual performance or the way they act. Answers plz.

Yes, it's just an excuse for being a jerk.  They are not trying to be helpful or honest at all.

if the people you are describing can't say anything nice, then they should not say it at all. somebody's sexual performance, is none of their business. we're all human and we're going to act, think, dress and work differently. we all can't be the same. if they say they are just being real, then see if they agree with that statement when you tell them they should back off and lighten up.

I know exactly what you mean, "bro."  Like, me and my "homies" have been "chillin'" quite often at Hot Topics lately and we try to "keep it real" with the customers' choice of "gear" (that means clothes in "gangsta"), but everyone thinks we're "hatin'" on them.  So we took a "chill pill" and now we don't comment as much.

Just being real?   Sounds more like just being mouthy.  Just being insulting.

There's no good reason to insult someone's sexual performance.  Not good to be critical of another person's actions, unless they're in a place where the other person's actions is inappropriate.  

Well, the person who is so "real" is going to find herself friendless, too.  Nobody likes that sort of behavior.
