My younger sister is looking to quit before starting a family and needs some advice. If you have quit smoking using any kind of nicotine replacement therapy (patch, nicotine gum, etc) which did you find to be the most effective and why? These products are pretty expensive so she doesn't want to experiment too much.

I know she tried quitting cold turkey before and was not the nicest person to be around - she also felt pretty sick. So that isn't the best choice for her.

  1. I've had success with the patch.  Five months smoke free so far.  The only side effect I've noticed is trouble sleeping and some weird dreams when I do manage to get into a deep sleep.  I wish your sister much luck.  According to doctors it's easier to get off heroin  than it is to quit smoking.  I know it's the hardest thing I've ever tried to do!!
