People with depression and/or anxiety... do you worry about going crazy?

I constantly worry that I am going crazy, or will end up crazy... especially if I am left on my own. I have thoughts that I shouldn't be thinking, and then I tell myself afterwards, "why are you thinking that? It's wrong!"

Do you sometimes have moments like that? I'm so scared about these thoughts.

  1. No, not personally, but a psychiatrist can help you overcome this.

  2. we all do but its a matter of controling them. it feels like your goingto have a heart attack but your not. i still struggle with struggling but i eventually get over it

  3. I think that happens to all of us who suffer from depression and or anxiety because it feels to a certain extent that your thoughts are beyond your control. Don't worry, they're not, it really helps to talk to a therapist about how you're feeling they can help you work through it and teach you ways of coping and overcoming this. It may help you to take a medication if only to get you through this bad patch and give you the space and time to learn to control your thought patterns and habits. Most of all, remember you're not alone, a lot of people out there are feeling the same way.

  4. Don't worry. Because if you do worry about it, the chances of you going crazy are greater now that you are thinking of it. Devil's advocate, or murphy's law if you believe in such things...

  5. I know how you feel.I'm a bipolar-depressed.Sometimes my mind gets the better of me.When this happens we(doctor & I) adjust my medicine when needed, and I try to control it by cognitive thinking, behavioral tactics I've learned/taught myself over the years. If and when these thoughts get to be too much you should seek out your doctor.Good luck : )

  6. yes definitely, but you can't just go crazy and neither depression or anxiety can cause you to go insane.

  7. Yes I know what you mean, I suffer from panic and anxiety and I often feel like I am going crazy. I will focus too much on my brain and feel like I just want it out of my head b/c it is making me feel so freaked out. If you are not on medication and seeing a therapist you need to start, many hospitals allow you to pay on a sliding scale.  You may feel alone but there are many people who feel the same way you do.  I think if you are truly crazy you don't even realize it.
