The Spanish tactician was content with his team’s performance against Bayer Leverkusen but insisted that they could have done better.
On Tuesday, Barcelona visited the BayArena to play the knock-out stage of the Champions League against the German Bundesliga outfit, Bayer Leverkusen.
To the joy of the Nou Camp faithful, the current European Champions were able to register a convincing 1-3 victory over the hosts.
The Catalan Giants were clearly dominant throughout the proceedings of the match.
Robin Dutt’s men were more focused on not conceding a goal rather than scoring one; hence, most of their game was focused in their own half. They were able to contain Barcelona for the first 40 minutes, but then a brilliant pass from Lionel Messi found

After conceding a goal before half-time, a rejuvenated Never-kusen took over the pitch as the second half started. The Germans managed to find an answer to the first goal in the 52nd minute, equalizing through a header by Michal
Kadlec.
As the match continued, the Spanish Giants proved to be too strong for the host team. It took Barcelona only three minutes to take the lead. An exceptional through ball from Cesc Fabregas was brilliantly controlled by the Alexis Sanchez, who rounded
the goalkeeper and found the back of the net.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 was the scorer of the third goal for La Blaugrana, as he was able to put the match to bed. His goal helped him break the record of the highest number of goals scored in the knock-out stages of the UEFA Champions League by an individual.
Despite his team’s performance, Guardiola has commented that his men were not at their best and could have scored more goals.
While addressing the press, the Spaniard was quoted as saying:
"We had a few chances in the first half, but perhaps the final pass was missing. I think the second half was good; we used the space better after we took the lead. We tried to improve our game. But we were playing away and we came into the game after
the break.
When you play against the German teams then you don’t have the control, you don’t have the possession and you receive a lot of problems because they are physically stronger and they are a very good team.”
The Spanish Champions will host Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg on March 7th. With 3 valuable away goals at their advantage, Barca are favourites to qualify for the next stage.
