La Blaugrana created numerous chances in their UEFA Champions League semi-final fixtures against Chelsea but hit the back of the net on only two occasions.
The last seven days have been hard on Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona who have dropped out of La Liga title race after succumbing to defeat against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou and now have been dumped by Chelsea from the Champions League.
Reflecting on the situation Pep Guardiola finds himself in at the moment, the witty tactician claimed that he could not ask more from his players as they gave everything on the pitch.
Guardiola added that Barcelona failed to make their strengths count during the special phases of the match that has a bearing on the result and have paid a costly price for their slip up.
Continuing on the topic, he remarked that the players will now have to recover from the setback and look forward to the future with optimism and stated that the only thing remaining for his players is to congratulate Chelsea on a hard fought victory.
"We did everything we could, but we failed," the 41-year-old said while talking to reporters after the European fixture aggregate loss. "We could not get it right in the key moments, and these things are costly.”
"Now, we will have to recover and think about the next season. The only thing we can do is congratulate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for their defensive work.”
When quizzed about his instructions to La Blaugrana players before the match, the retired Spanish footballer revealed that he told them to attack from the get go and stay true to their footballing principles.
"I told my players to attack and not to stop, because that is what we have to do. And then Chelsea's first goal came.”
"But we are true to ourselves, we have always been this way. I will learn from this.”
"I do not know what to feel. I look at my players and I do not know what to tell them that they did wrong because I cannot find anything wrong with what we did."
With the season coming to its end, the Copa del Rey remains as the only major competition that is still at stake for the Spanish outfit.
