Pep Guardiola speaks out after draw with FC Kobenhavn
Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola admitted that his side had never come up against a physically stronger side than that of the FC Kobenhavn team that held the mighty Blaugrana to a 1-1 draw in Champions League action on Tuesday, 2 November.
Guardiola had only positive things to say about his team's performance, pointing out the grueling schedule a team like his has to endure over the course of the season.
"The team has performed. They are tired, and that demonstrated the type of match it was. I am very satisfied with the performance because we have played against a very good team, who are well organised, with a very good coach.
I am very happy with this game.
"We have everything to gain; the Champions League is very demanding, and we have done everything to win the match, we had control, defended well but we lacked success offensively at times. But overall I am very satisfied with the performance of the team."
On the way to the tunnel after the match, Guardiola and Kobenhavn manager Stale Solbakken were spotted in a heated verbal exchange and had to be separated. The topic of the debate was with regard to a vicious collision between Barcelona goalkeeper
Victor Valdes and Kobenhavn striker Cesar Santin.
Guardiola was quick to downplay the incident saying, "Nothing has happened. They have asked for a UEFA punishment. You cannot ask for a four game ban and say that Pinto (Valdes) is a bad apple.
Behaviour and professionalism are indispensible parts of our locker room. The coach cannot do this, you can ask for a suspension, but that is enough. We disagreed, he gave his opinion and I gave mine."
Valdes was eventually handed a two game ban for the incident, but the Kobenhavn manager still believes it should have been more.
