The Merseyside club have failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the past two seasons. The Reds’ finished sixth in the Barclays Premier League last season and will participate in neither Europa League nor Champions League.
Liverpool, who won the 2005 UEFA Champions League, were playing in last seasons’ Europa League and Pepe Reina believes though the Reds will miss European fixtures but their lack of participation in the continental competition will help the Merseyside club
mount a stronger title challenge this season.
Reina told the reporters, "I have always been in the situation of playing in midweek so it’s new for me. They say it can be an advantage [not playing in Europe] and I hope we can benefit from not having such a heavy schedule.”

believes that the Reds’ new boys will settle quickly at Anfield.
The Spanish custodian hailed Liverpool’s efforts in the current transfer campaign and has insisted that the new signings have increased the depth and strength of the squad.
"I think the new signings have the advantage of having played many years in this league, that always makes things easier. This club has a big history and we have to follow those legends," the 28-year-old goalkeeper added.
However, Reina has outlined that the club’s main target for the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season is to earn one of the UEFA Champions League spots and has stated that it is too early to call Liverpool title contenders.
Liverpool claimed their first win of the ongoing season by defeating http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 2-0 at Emirates Stadium. The Reds are currently placed fourth with four points after the opening two fixtures.
