Influential Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has asserted that the Reds’ lack enough strength and quality to win the Barclays Premier League title this season and the Merseyside club may have to wait another year to fight for the domestic title.
The Spanish goalkeeper outlined that Liverpool’s main aim for this season is to earn one of the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.

However, expectations are high this season as Liverpool have spent over £100 million to bring new players and are being tipped as strong title contenders.
Moreover, Kenny Dalglish – in charge of Liverpool when they last won the league title – is once again in charge of the Merseyside club and the Scotsman is being widely tipped to deliver the league title.
However, the Spanish custodian has rubbished such claims and has insisted that it will be very difficult for Kenny Dalglish’s men to deliver the Premier League this season as they had been finishing below fifth for the past two seasons.
Pepe Reina told the reporters, "It’s difficult because we have been some distance from those aspirations for a long time.”
Nonetheless, the 28-year-old has outlined that Liverpool’s priority for the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League is to finish in the top four of the standings as they have failed to secure the Champions League spot for the past two consecutive seasons.
Reina sees that Liverpool are likely to challenge for the domestic title next season.
"The priority is to return to the top four and keep improving. It’s fundamental the team gets back into Europe, then next year makes the jump to challenge for the title," Pepe Reina concluded.
