Pepe Reina finally committed his future to Liverpool after the Spanish shot-stopper was given assurances by the Director of Football at Liverpool, Damien Comolli, that the club will be making big signings this summer and will move forward in the next season.
The Liverpool Number 1 admitted that a few weeks back he was not sure of his future and did not know if he wanted to carry on with the Reds. Liverpool at one point, were close to the relegation spot and under manager Roy Hodgson remained out of the Top-10.
Lingering at the 12th spot on the table, the future did not look too bright for them.
However, with the arrival of Kenny Dalglish, things have changed dramatically and they have moved into 6th place, knocking on the door of the UEFA Europa League next season. Now Reina believes that there is a sense of optimism all around Anfield
and everyone wants to work hard and take the team forward. He admitted that the morale of the team has been lifted to new heights in last few weeks, and Liverpool is playing as well as they have in years.
Reina said while speaking to reporters, "Next season it will be more positive and the quicker we react and improve the better it will be for the club."
Even though the goalkeeper was optimistic about the future of the club, the Spanish international did admit it wouldn't be an overnight change and the whole team would have to work hard to win laurels.
"It won't change as quickly as night follows day, it may take a little while, but we are optimistic," he added.
The Liverpool shot-stopper said that even though he was not sure that the club was going places, he did find it hard to convince himself into leaving the club. He added that he wanted to believe in the club but was not given too much of a choice at the time.
But now things are improving dramatically, and if two or three more quality players can be added to the squad, there is no reason why they cannot push for the title next season.
Liverpool has not won a league title in the Premier League era, and it has been Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea who have ruled the roost at the top. Next season may see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in rebuilding mode which may give Liverpool the perfect opportunity
to make headway on those two, and challenge United for the Premier League crown.
