Pepe Reina confident of European qualification if Liverpool win remaining Premier League games
Liverpool goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 is confident that Liverpool will qualify for the UEFA Europa League if they win the remaining four games in the Premier League.
He stated that the Reds will have to continue with the mentality and end the ongoing 2010-11 season on a high.
Liverpool are currently in sixth place with 52 points, and are three points behind Tottenham Hotspur, with the latter having a game in hand. Kenny Dalglish’s side will have to finish fifth in order to qualify for Europe next season with four games to go
until the season ends.
The Reds will face Andy Carroll’s former club Newcastle United this weekend whereas Tottenham face a tough test against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Reina said that his side will try to win the last four games and expect the Spurs to drop points as they have some difficult matches to play for in the season. Harry Redknapp’s men have to play Chelsea and Manchester City in their last four outings and are
expected to lose points.
“We have to try to win all of our games and after we will see. I believe if we win them all we will be in the fifth position and that is probably the closest and most important target. We have to take it one game at a time and the most important one is Newcastle
because that is next. Tottenham have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 away so there is a possibility we can pass them and take the fifth position this weekend,” Reina said.
The shot stopper also praised the team’s recent performances and revealed that the players should continue performing like Birmingham last weekend. Liverpool defeated Birmingham 5-0 at Anfield recently as Maxi Rodriguez scored a hat-trick.
“We won't win every game 5-0 like we did against Birmingham last week, but if we play with the same mentality and approach it in the same way, we have more chance of winning than losing,” the former Villarreal player concluded.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have to play two times at Anfield against Newcastle and Tottenham and have two crucial away games against Aston Villa and Fulham.
