Pepe Reina denies reports he wants to leave Liverpool

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has denied reports that he told manager Roy Hodgson that he was planning to move on from the English Premier League club.

Several media outlets had suggested that the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner was growing dissatisfied with life at Anfield after the club endured their worst start to a league campaign in 57 years.
However, Reina, who penned a six-year deal with the Reds back in April, told his club’s official website, "It is completely untrue. I have not told the manager that I wish to leave in January, or at any other time. It is important our fans know this. I have
a long-term contract at Liverpool and I am fully committed to the club.
"Our new owner (John W Henry) met me and some of the other players last week and I was very happy with what he told me.

"The entire squad and staff are working very hard to get us back competing at the top of the table. We will not be distracted by inaccurate media speculation."
The 28-year-old had been linked with moves to several other clubs, including Manchester United (who are looking for a long-term replacement for the 40-year-old Edwin van der Sar), Arsenal and also Inter Milan, who are managed by former Liverpool boss Rafael
Benitez (the man who brought Reina to Merseyside from Villarreal in 2005).

Since joining Liverpool, Reina has won the UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and FA Community Shield. He also helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2007 and achieve a runner-up place in the EPL in 2009.

Reina has played more than 270 games for the club in total, while he has featured in 18 of Liverpool’s 21 games this season across all competitions.
