Pepe Reina has doubts over his Liverpool future
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has hinted that he may have to leave Liverpool in the summer if the club isn't challenging for trophies.
Liverpool's number one has been linked heavily with a move to Manchester United as United number one Edwin van der Sar is due to retire at the end of the Premier League campaign.
"I signed a six-year contract seven months ago and I'm happy at the club, but every footballer wants to be competing
for trophies and winning things. I will stay at Liverpool at least until the end of the season," he said to the
Daily Mall.
Reina is a top level goalkeeper who has many qualities that would appeal to any of the top clubs across Europe. However, a move to Manchester United could lead to the player
becoming a hate figure at his current club.
A top goalkeeper
Reina is a top goalkeeper who has a number of good attributes. His distribution from back to front is better than anyone else in the game and this is crucial in setting
up fast counter attacking football. He's superb in a vocal sense when commanding his defence.
Reina has a solid level of experience that should ensure he doesn't require any settling in period at another club in England. He's played 193 times for Liverpool and will
know all about the Premier League game.
This is the strongest suggestion yet that Reina will up sticks and leave for Manchester United. However, the rivalry between his current club and United would make it virtually
impossible for him to ever return to Merseyside.
"I know there are rumours about me leaving, but I want to make it clear that
I have no intention of going back to Spain," he added.
Betting advice
A brilliant goalkeeper will save his team a number of goals over the course of a season. This means a higher tally of points and if there is any truth in the links with Manchester
United then the Manchester club should go all out to make sure they get their man.
