Influential Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has revealed that the Reds main aim for the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League is to secure a UEFA Champions League berth for the next season.
However, the Reds keeper is confident that Dalglish’s squad has the strength and quality to win a major title this season.
Liverpool are the only English side to win the UEFA Champions four times, however, the Reds have failed to secure a spot in the Elite European championship for the past two seasons.
The Reds are now aiming to bring European action back to Anfield and are firm favourites to finish in the top four, after their impressive start to the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League campaign.
Reina has revealed that Liverpool’s aim is to keep improving. The Spaniard believes that if the Reds peak well during the season, they can easily claim a major title. However, the goalkeeper has acknowledged that a top-four finish in the Premier League is
the ultimate target for the Merseyside club.
"The objective is to keep improving. If we peak well we can claim a major title. The main objective though is to return to the Champions League - so the Premier League is the priority.” Reina revealed.
The shot-stopper believes that it is too early for Liverpool to start dreaming for the Premier League title. Reina believes that the Reds are undergoing a transition period and will take some time before they can really challenge for the English crown.

"The supporters are dreaming of success, but it is a new project with renewed ambition. It is too soon to predict the title - we are in a transition phase, rebuilding, and we hope to be back with the favourites soon.”
The 29-year-old keeper reiterated his desire to return to Spain, however, the former Villarreal player has claimed that he is happy and will stay at the Anfield for the foreseeable future.
"I have said it many times, but I am happy at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011."
Pepe Reina has featured in Liverpool’s every Premier League match this season and will be hoping to improve on his form.
