Real Madrid centre-back, Pepe, is still adamant about the comments he made on Andres Iniesta and Barcelona players after their heated El Clasico encounter which ended 2-2.
Because of the intensity of El Clasico and the historical animosity between the two sides, Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 matches rarely end without some kind of controversies.
This is time it is about the claims made by the mercurial Portugal and Real Madrid centre-back, Pepe, who accused the Barca players of intentional overreactions in order to get decisions by the referee in their favour.
After the Clasico match, Pepe accused Barca players of being dramatic and always looking for ways to get free kicks and penalties awarded to them by the referee.
His comments generated quick reaction from Barca manager, Tito Vilanova, and the 'Little Magician, Andres Iniesta, who was the main target.
“Iniesta was looking for me in the area. He pulls you and does a thousand turns but they are like that, very theatrical,” Pepe said.
Evidently, Pepe’s comments didn’t go down well on Iniesta who was quick to defend and distance himself and teammates from all allegations and suggested accusations.
"If a player speaks about you and your team-mates like this, you feel offended," Iniesta said.
"I'm not theatrical in any way, and neither are the other guys. These comments hurt because they are a personal attack."
The exchange of comments did not stop there as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984, for their World Cup qualifier encounter with Russia.
"If someone is offended it is because the truth hurts," Pepe said. "I just said what really happened in the game."
Pepe is uncertain whether he will be fit for the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 as he is now recovering from a leg injury.
"We'll see how it goes tomorrow," Pepe said. "If everything is progressing well, I hope to play."
Finally, the Portuguese international is now focused on helping his national side to qualify for the next World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 and hopefully he will be fit for Real’s next La Liga match against Celta De Vigo at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on October 21st.
