Question:

Peptic Ulcer Disease?

I haven't been diagnosed by a doctor, but I'm almost positive that's what I have. Is it necessary to go to the doctor or are there any home treatments I could do to save the trip.

I'm hoping for thorough answers, not "go to the doctor". Please.

  1. There are no answers but to see a doctor. You can't diagnose your own ulcer and certainly no one here can.

Indeed you might have to. It was only about a decade ago that we found that many peptic ulcers were caused by a bacterium and that the right antibiotics were a permanent cure. You can't prescribe your own antibiotics. And most of the prior recommendations for ulcers were palliative (symptom relieving) and not curative so you could drink milk and keep away from spicy foods while the Hilicobacters continue to eat your stomach.

But any gastric trouble could be caused by any number of things, including obstructed bile ducts, or tapeworms, or even cancers.
