Arsenal defender and German international, Per Mertesacker believes that it is time for the Gunners to start pushing for a spot in the top four in the Barclays Premier League.
The Gunners had a glorious opportunity to go fourth in the Premier League table this past Tuesday, when the team played host to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 at home. However, following a brilliant display, Arsenal could only manage to secure a one all draw.
Wolves were more than lucky to come away from the game with a point and they have Wayne Hennessey and his brilliant form in front of the goal to thank for it.
Despite Arsenal not sitting in the most favourable positions in the league table. Mertesacker and a number of other players on the team still believe the team can push for the top four.
At the same time, the team is hoping to start their push to the top sooner rather than later, given how they only have half the season left to try and claim a spot near the top.
Mertesacker, when talking about the team and its ambitions to finish in the top four is quoted to have said: "We had a big chance to go into fourth place, but we didn't do that. It was our fault, we had a lot of chances but we didn't score"
The player then highlighted Hennessey and his brilliant performance in the game, which kept the Gunners at bay and outside the top four.
"There are some days in the life of goalkeepers where something happens like that. He was in great form and it was his day.”
Mertesacker has also admitted that he has finally adjusted to life in the Premier League and it is now only a matter of going out and giving it his best every time he steps onto the pitch.
"I am very happy to be here and to get this opportunity to build myself up.”

"It is more physical than, maybe not as technical as the Bundesliga, but the speed is much harder.”

"This the best league in the world, therefore you have to improve your game, but the important thing is to show you can deal with it."
Mertesacker has come a long way from his early days as a Gunner. His performances have been far more consistent and his presence in the air has helped the Gunners out on a number of occasions this season.
The player will now be hoping to take this form and use it to help the Gunners edge closer to the top of the table.
