Sorry, my last question wasn't very clear.

Ok, so a top I like is $30.00, it's been marked down to $25.00

How much percent is the mark down?

How do I work out the percentage?

  1. take the original pirce minus the present price which is 30-25  =5

    then put the discounted amount over the original price and times it by 100 and that will give you the answer like below

         5

      ____  * 100

        30

    =16.666

    =16.67%

  2. $25.00 is 83.333%(repeater)of $30.00

  3. hi

    25/30  =  x/100

    x= 25*100/30

    almost   x=83%

  4. it's been marked down by 16.67%

    30 - 25 = $5

    $5 = how much it was marked down

    5 out of 30 = % it was marked down

    5 divided by 30 = 0.166666667

    turn that into a percent = 16.67

  5. You have to use cross multiplication:

    $30.00 is 100% of the money, correct? so that means that;

    $25.00 is X% of the money, right? X being an unknown number. So you have to cross multiply:

    30x = 25*100    Do what you can, multiply 25*100

    30x = 2,500

    30x/30 = 2,500/30    Divide both sides by 30 to get rid of 30x

    x = 83.33%    Theres your answer

    Okay so now you got 83.3%, but thats not the percentage marked down, its what percentage it is of 100. So you have to minue it by 100:

    100 - 83.3 = 17.7%

    And 17.7% is the final answer.

  6. to work it out it is score divided by total times 100

    so if u got 25 in a test out of 50

    u wld work it out

    25/50 X 100= 50%
