Percentages or fractions? Not sure if this is even english?

1. About 31/50 of students ages 10 to 17 name math, science or math as their favorite subject in school. Art is the favorite subject for about 3/20 of the students ages 10 to 17. For what fraction of the students this age is math or science their favorite subject?

Yes, this question is written very poorly, because the answer to the question is essentially in the first line.  That being 31/50.  Not a very astute question, IMO.
