Perceptions of domestic violence between Gen X & Y ?

What are the differences between the perceptions of domestic violence between Generation X and Y?

Or, as Gen x or y, what is your perception of it and

its reality in today's society?

DV has always been there but in the past keeping married was the priority, now the marriage is not the priority and now it is acceptable to talk of DV, although this depends on your nationality/religion too.

Many women in history were killed by their husbands when this was acceptable practise of keeping the woman in line (it wasn't til the late 1800's-early1900's that women were no longer 'property' of the man), with woman's independence came the unacceptable reality of DV- we wouldn't put up with it anymore.

As a victim of this personally i think we should let them rot in gaol simply for undermining another persons self esteem, let alone the rest of it!!
