Newcastle United player James Perch insists that the player are still lingering over the 4-3 defeat against Manchester United on Boxing Day, but insists that they are eager to bounce back by getting a result against Arsenal tonight at the Emirates.
The versatile player said that he still cannot quite believe how his team returned empty handed from Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
Newcastle had put in a very good and fighting performance. The Magpies shocked everyone when they took the lead through Perch. The player pounced on a loose ball which had resulted from a save by the United goalkeeper from an initial http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 strike.
Manchester United came back to equalize, but Newcastle took the lead again. The hosts then equalized once again before Newcastle scored the 3rd goal. At this point, it looked as if the visitors will win the game. But the hosts came back for the
third time, and finally took the lead in the dying minutes of the game and clinched the victory from right underneath Newcastle’s nose.
The struggling Newcastle side now take on Arsenal at the Emirates tonight. The Gunners had their Boxing Day game against West Ham postponed due to security reasons, and therefore enjoyed an extended Christmas break.
Perch insists that all the players are dying to get over the defeat at Old Trafford by a victory against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 tonight, and insists that even though they are still upset about the defeat, they are looking to moving on. He said:
“We are all gutted after Boxing Day. It’s a really tough one to take, losing in the last minute after you have taken the lead three times. All the lads are really down about it. It’s probably the worst defeat I’ve ever had, just in the manner it was and
the way we played.”
“We deserved so much more out of it and now we have to turn it around. It’s the only way to respond. We just have to forget about Manchester United and look forward.”
With only 2 wins in their last 17 visits to Arsenal, Newcastle are in for a tough night against a rested and fresh Arsenal side.
